ReefWorks is a secure marine technology test and evaluation facility operated by the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) at their Cape Ferguson facility near Townsville, Queensland.

ReefWorks is open to industry, government and academic innovators who need access to world-class maritime test infrastructure. The facility is situated on the Great Barrier Reef, providing access to highly varied and ecologically significant marine environments.

The team at ReefWorks has extensive experience with marine robotics and autonomous systems, and can provide operational support and expertise to help test teams get the most from their time at the facility.

Sensor Testing Tank

An indoor test tank for sensor calibration, characterisation and evaluation in controlled underwater conditions.

Three Marine Test Ranges

Three distinct marine environments for testing nearshore shallow, mid-water and open ocean each with different conditions and depths.

Support Facilities

ReefWorks provides access to the broader AIMS Cape Ferguson facility infrastructure, including secure vessel storage and launch, data management and analysis workspaces, accommodation for visiting teams, and high-speed internet and data connectivity.
